Kelly Doody

My background is a bit diverse, as I will always strive to learn more and try new things.  I grew up in a small town in New Hampshire with my older sister, Michelle, and my twin sister Kerry.  My parents owned a small store – gas station – market – deli where we learned at a young age the value of hard work, earning our own money, and doing things we were proud of– in 8th Grade we started our own business, “K&K Grinders” that we sold at the store!

During High School my twin sister met Don Carlisle, of Carlisle Wide Plank Floors.  They married when we were in college, and I worked for the business doing admin when I was home.

I then worked in Washington D.C. for five years in Government Affairs, where I delved into the world of lobbying for health policy during the Clinton Administration.  I gained valuable skills and learned a great deal about our political system, people in general, and what I liked and didn’t like.  I had told myself that “once I began to feel synical rather than passionate, it was time to move on.”

I went back to NH for a few years where I had the opportunity to work with my sister and Don again, this time growing their business, Carlisle Wide Plank Floors.  We went from the basement of their house to a huge manufacturing facility that Carlisle Holding Company still has today.  A couple years later I went to Colorado where I first worked with an installer in Brekenridge, then helped launch Carlisle’s first showroom in Denver.

Once I met Brad, we combined our knowledge about flooring and wood, both our entrepreneural backgrounds, and his skill in building to start our own company here in South Florida.  We have been here for over ten years now, and love every moment of what we do!
